Friday 29th January,2016- This week we continued practising the formal division (some of us are able to now change the remainder into decimals and fractions!). We also learnt about proportions.

Friday 15th January,2016- Sotiria, Eliza, Alaina and Ilyas for working hard on writing their description of the 'thing behind the wall' in present tense. Malachi, Aoife and Safiyya for working hard to write a description of the library in first person as Jared and in past tense. We are currently focusing a lot of our writing around a book called 'The Spiderwick Chronicles'.

Thursday 26th November, 2015-Mia, Alexia, Cillian, Moses and Zack for working hard to meet their success criteria whilst writing a set of instructions. They included both time connectives and imperative verbs.

Reading champion-these are children who have been reading regularly, meet their reading targets,bring their reading diaries when asked, are able to summarise what they are reading and know/research the meaning of new, tricky words.

This week is anti-bullying week.
Today we discussed what bullying is and how a person may feel if they were bullied verse if they are cared for. We also examined the differences between us all and learnt that being different is great because if we were all the same, the world would be a boring place.

Tuesday 17th November, 2015.
Today we were learning to explore actions, body parts, levels, directions and speeds so that we can enhance our dance performances in later lessons.
This week, we created dance performances that involved travelling, linking and contrasting shapes. We also worked very well in partners. Our theme was fireworks.

Thursday 12th November, 2015.
In D&T, we have been making money containers. Some of us used felt and others used Binca. We have practised stitching and designing our money containers with felt. We also used buttons to fasten our money containers. Now we can sew our clothes ourselves if they rip and save some of mummy or daddy's time.

Today we attempted to design our own piece of Islamic art.
Monday 9th November, 2015.
This term, we are learning about the religion Islam.
We began by discussing what we believe and understanding that everyone has their own beliefs which should be respected.
Today, we learnt about the 5 pillars of Islam. Miss Hoque chose children to represent a pillar. They were excellent volunteers! Maahi really enjoyed dressing up in a hijab to help demonstrate that Muslim women have to cover their hair when they pray. She was great help!

Today we began by working on different rhythems and our coordiantion.
We then played the ukulele to different songs.

We have been learning to play the ukulele. We really enjoy it!
We know the name of the strings (G,C,E,A) and are learning to perform the music to different songs.

Today we were learning about insulators and conductors. Here we are sorting different materials as insulators or conductors.
Monday 11th January,2016
Today we learnt about condensation. To enhance our understanding, we carried out a practical activity. We placed a mirror over some warm water and found that the gas released from the water turned into a liquid when it reached a cold surface (the mirror). This process is called condensation (when a gas turns into a liquid). See the images below.
Thursday 7th January, 2016
Today we were learning about evaporation. We began by discussing the meaning and everyday examples of evaporation. We identified that the kettle from the steam is an example of evaporation.
Did you know that the steam released from a boiled kettle is small water particles that turns into 'water vapour' (a gas) and evaporates.
After we learnt this, we asked 'if water particles are being released, will there be less water left in the kettle after it has cooled down?'
To get a first hand experience, we poured boiled kettle water into a jug and marked where it was up to.
Later that day,as some of us had predicted, there was less water left in the jug compared to before!
Thursday 3rd December, 2015.
Today we learnt about the properties of solids, liquids and gases. We physically represented the particle arrangement in a solid, liquid and gas to develop our understanding.

Today we went to Countryside Live to enhance our learning about living things and their habitats.
Thursday 28th January, 2016
Today we continued to practise hitting the ball to our partner without loosing the ball. We challenged ourselves by seeing who can hit the ball to their partner for the longest. The mission was also not to loose the ball. The two pairs that got the highest scores were ARIYAN/ARUN and ELIZA/ZACK! Good job guys!

Today we have been beginning to pick up some of the skills for hockey. We tried controlling the ball ourselves and then practised passing it to our partner. We did find it challenging at first but got better at it!

Today was Jake's last day with us. It has been a pleasure having Jake with us for P.E. and we will truly miss him. 4h says a big thank you!
