Information from Dame Alice Owen's School Admissions regarding Consultation
for entry in 2020-2021
The Governing Body of Dame Alice Owen’s School will be consulting on its admissions arrangements for 2020-21 between 19th November 2018 and 6th January 2019. The proposed arrangements and further details are available to view on the school website www.damealiceowens.herts.sch.uk/admissions
Should you wish to comment on any aspect of these arrangements please write to
Mrs D Coles, Admissions Officer by 6th January 2019.
Following the end of the consultation period the Governors will meet to consider any comments received and finalise the arrangements accordingly.
The main proposed amendments broadly include:-
a) Introducing Children Previously Looked After outside of England as our second oversubscription criterion. This is an advisory recommendation from the DfE to all schools.
b) Only inviting the top ranked 325 in the verbal reasoning test to sit the English and Maths papers. This is not a significant change to the test process as we currently only mark the English and maths papers of the top ranked 325 in the verbal reasoning; but it will mean that children will no longer be sitting tests that aren’t going to be marked.
c) Amending the Sixth Form admission requirements for English Language and Maths to a Grade 5.
d) Further clarification of the Musical Aptitude test.
e) A note that siblings are not eligible to sit the Entrance tests
